The Swan Markets here in Rotterdam are one of my favourite little events. They’ve just moved indoors to the old Post Office building, & I super enjoyed reading Trudy’s post about her first Swan Market experience.

& as tacky as patriotism usually is, I want to wish any fellow antipodeans a pretty spectacular Australia Day! No matter how far I am from home, I’m immensely proud of that insanely beautiful country of ours.

Whisper of a new little project I’m dreaming up. A little reminder to us all to be right here, in the moment, exactly where we are.

Some colour inspiration in celebration of the Chinese New Year! 2012 is the Year of the Dragon – most exciting. Having already decided that this year is going to be simply amazing (it’s shaping up pretty rad already, no?), I’m excited by any opportunity to admire gawdy colours. Chinese folklore says you should dress in red & wear some kind of gold jewellery (meaning a perfect time to revisit your 80s red powersuit) to signify wealth & prosperity for the New Year. Also, that this first day of the Year of the Dragon should reflect how you want the rest of your year to look. As far as I can tell, Chinese New Year isn’t a huge deal here in Holland – which kind of makes me miss the overly exuberant Chinese New Year parade in Sydney around this time every year.

It’s pretty thrilling being able to celebrate the New Year twice, right?
